The delrin ACADEMIC model clarinet barrel
After many months of intense work, we are finally presenting the new clarinet barrel made of delrin at the Arixa Clarinets artisanal workshop.
Delrin is a semitransparent, extremely hard and resistant thermoplastic, which can be machined, offering excellent results and multiple uses. Specialists in machining consider it the best material to make special pieces/parts.
It offers high stiffness and mechanical resistance and the fact of it being dimensionally stable makes it a wonderful material when one needs a piece/part with stable dimensions when humidity and temperature are uneven.
If I would have to define this barrel in two words, these would be safe and light.
Its density provides a deep sound and its excellent mechanical resistance offers the proper characteristics for us to machine it on the lathe at our artisanal workshop.
The delrin ACADEMIC clarinet barrel is also very light and offers a great dimensional stability and resistance to temperature and humidity changes, therefore avoiding cracks.
The Academic clarinet barrels offers the clarinetist the possibility to develop full sound potential in a personal manner. It is extremely even throughout the different sound registers, with little resistance and huge articulation easiness.
It will be available for Boehm system clarinets in two sizes, 65 and 66 mm.
Very stable material
Resistant to weather changes
Virtually inmune to cracking
Lighter than wood
Less flexible and versatile than wood
To finish this article I would like to say I think it is worth to try the Academic model clarinet barrel. I personally feel very comfortable when I play with it because it helps you to achieve an interesting sound depth.
We hope you enjoy it!
